"Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year."

"Very handy location. Boat well appointed with everything you could need: toilet, small shower, galley with all facilities (except a wooden spoon!). Bed comfortable with cosy bedding. Lounge and dining areas separate with a good amount of room, for two at least."

Being a bit inexperienced at staying on boats it took us a while to fine tune the way we used things but hey, life’s a learning experience. Hot water did run out but easily overcome and, with a bit of communication, eventually fixed up. It’s a boat, not a 5 star Hilton; these things happen.

Nur ein einziger Punkt wäre verbesserungswürdig. Verdunklungsrollos im Bereich der Schlafbereich würden für etwas längere Nächte sorgen :-)

There’s barely anything to fault, but the spot is a bit far from busy areas. It wasn’t a real issue for us, though, since we wanted a peaceful stay.

Nulla. Il wc ovviamente bisogna adattarsi. Ma ci sta!

"Dopo una lunga giornata trascorsa a scalare il Pico Duarte, siamo arrivati a Casa Taina e ci siamo sentiti subito come a casa. Siamo stati accolti con grandi sorrisi e una gentilezza autentica che ha reso tutto ancora più speciale. La stanza era impeccabile, pulitissima, e abbiamo apprezzato moltissimo la doccia calda dopo la fatica della giornata. Su nostra richiesta, sono stati così disponibili da prepararci anche la cena: un pasto delizioso, a un prezzo davvero competitivo rispetto ai ristoranti della zona, che abbiamo gustato in un’atmosfera piacevole e rilassata. Un’esperienza davvero positiva sotto ogni aspetto!"

Se devo trovare proprio un difetto, nella doccia sarebbe più sicuro un tappetino anti sdrucciolo, si scivola

This is a new concept. A few teething issues to sort. Breakfast took a long time. They should also make you aware in advance about cruise timings as it means the boat is unaccessible. This is OK providing your planning an evening out somewhere anyway. Evening cruise from 8pm to 11pm in our case
