Atauro Dive Resort

"Il più bel resort nei dintorni. La gentilezza e flessibilità di tutto il personale Sempre pronti ad accogliere le richieste . Non sapevamo che non ci fosse il traghetto e senza addebitarci nulla ci han permesso di andar via un giorno prima! Il cibo era buonissimo. L’atmosfera felice e familiare. Mi piacerebbe tornare."

"Very good location. They have a restaurant so you are covered for food (which is not necessarily easy to find in the island). Very nice diving and very good diving instructor (Amy). Beautiful sunrise in the company of cute property dogs."

"The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed and calm. Breakfast was varied, depending on what was available. Fresh fruit was good. The kitchen staff were lovely. The diving instructor, Amy, was great. We only snorkelled from the boat but she was knowledgeable and very funny. We loved mixing with the other guests over dinner. Loved how the hermit crabs came out across the path at night. Magical! Our hut was simple and comfortable. Shared latrines were a new experience but very clean and not a problem."

"The coral and fish were amazing. Been to lots of other pacific islands. The hut accommodation was fun. The large outdoor shower room was great. The bedroom had a table with power, and a mosquito net. The balcony was a good size. we had a great view of the ocean. It was lovely to hear the ocean at night and watch the sunrise each morning. Lunch and dinner buffets looked good and changed for every day/meal. We only tried the fried fish for dinner. It was great. The staff were friendly except for Volker the owner. You could snorkel from the site which was great. The boat was also a good option and not too pricey. Met lots of interesting fellow travellers who I hope to meet again in the future."

"Going on the boat for a snorkel seemed very unreliable. We wasted a day being told multiple times when we could go out. (So we went up to Barry's and got an on-demand boat for much less). Divers were prioritised - understandably as they paid a lot more. Breakfast was disappointing - but it did change. We found the prices for many things (meals, snorkel gear, boats) much better at Barry's - who was also a lot friendlier and with a can-do attitude."

"Very picturesque, traditional thatched hut accommodation with super snorkelling beach right out the front. Friendly staff and super relaxed vibe. Felt very safe, despite minimal security. Close to the port and Saturday market. The small village still feels very much a local affair, rather than a tourist mecca."

"Mattresses were a little uncomfortable. We loved the simplicity of the facilities, and had no problem with the shared drop toilet, but if you are after all the mod cons, this place is not for you."

"A simple place to spend a relaxing, slow few days. Terrific reef snorkelling right off the beach (much easier to get to at high tides). Warm and friendly staff, strong coffee and tea available through the day and beer for purchase. (Surprisingly) the best wifi encountered in TL. Mosquito nets and coils seemed to do the job and bedding was fine. Loungers and hammocks by the beach - and sunrise on the doorstep. Drop toilets kept clean and odour-free and showers had warm water."

"Food was solid but variable - much better when they were catering for a larger crowd. Lunch and dinner pricing a little on the high side. The roosters add life to the resort but provide an involuntary alarm!"

"I had an amazing stay at this beautiful beachside hotel on Atauro Island! The location is absolutely perfect - right on the beach with stunning views and easy access to the ocean. I was truly impressed by the hospitality of the entire team. A special thanks to Paul and Caroline who assisted with diving and snorkelling - both were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, and made the experience even more enjoyable. Caroline, in particular, deserves praise for her exceptional friendliness and warm energy. I’d also like to mention Saafy, who was always cheerful and helpful throughout the stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and unforgettable escape!"

"While one should not expect too much in such a remote and beautiful location, there are a few areas where some enhancements could make the stay even more comfortable - especially considering the growing number of tourists visiting Atauro. The beds could be made a bit more comfortable, and although air-conditioning is not essential, having it could help avoid any disruptions during the night. A pick-up service from the dock would also be a welcome addition, as walking with luggage on the rough road (though it’s only a 7–8 minute walk) is not very convenient. It may also be helpful to consider upgrading the current pit latrine to a wash system, as some guests may find it more comfortable. A small upgrade to the washroom area would also go a long way. Overall, these are just small suggestions that could make an already lovely experience even better."
