"appartamento nuovo, molto spazioso e favolosa posizione sopra il mare con vista aperta. molti terrazzamenti con accesso direttamente sopra le rocce in mare. grande palestra ben dotata e piscine esterne, bagno turco e sauna. pulizia camera ottimo."

"la sala colazione molto affollata e rumorosa, colazione standard con frutta parzialmente in scatola e 3 marmellate in scatolette di plastica. terrazza x colazione fuori senza ombrelli quindi molto soleggiato. la signora più anziana della reception scortese e poco adatto x turismo internazionale. purtroppo i pochi posteggi auto fuori a pagamento x max 5 ore, passano vigili che danno multe tutti i giorni."

"Roca Mar is located on the sea front giving some great views looking out over the multi-level swimming and sun bathing areas. Loads to do in the hotel from scuba diving, lido, Golds gym, massage. activities like the scuba diving may have been an extra cost, I'm not sure as most of my activities we're outside the hotel. I picked this hotel as I wanted somewhere quieter than Funchal and a bit more chilled out. If you did want to go to Funchal though they was a daily mini bus service run from the hotel as well as cheap reliable public transport. The restaurant and bar area were decent too offering a wide variety of breakfast items plus it had a great terrace for enjoying drinks and food. Loads of different restaurants around Roca Mar in Canico too. The staff were helpful and easy to communicate with. All in all a very enjoyable stay at Roca Mar."

If pushed maybe the room seemed a bit dated (The hotel was like three hotels in one and I stayed in the Blue Orchid part, the Roca Mar part did look a bit more up market) you had to rent a key for the room safe instead of a pin code safe, so you had to hide the key everyday and make sure you didn't lose it. 2.50 Euro's a day"

"The hotel is located in a beautiful location. We had a balcony with a fantastic view of the ocean. We enjoyed coffee and the view from our balcony. Our room was very large. I was very surprised by the size of the room. The bed is comfortable. We are also satisfied with the cleanliness. The toilet and bathroom are large enough and spacious. The breakfast room is large with a terrace overlooking the ocean. The breakfast is varied and always fresh. There are several restaurants and smaller ones near the hotel. supermarket. Car parking is good. I rate this hotel with the highest rating and I am very happy to recommend it."

"Amazing experience, we loved it! It’s a complex of three hotels united, we were in the Royal Orchid, which is freshly renewed (the other two are not) the facilities are amazing and the view is stunning. Staff is also friendly!"

"Amaxing location, just on the cliffs with a view over the ocean. Room was big and comfortable. Breakfast was good with some adjustments every day. Canico is nice small village, away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal but close to everything."

"Strange SPA working hours. Pools and sauna work till 18:00, but in Madeira you are all day somewhere hiking or exploring island and exactly after 18:00 is the time when you would like to relax in the indoor pool."

"The spacious room and the free upgrade, the kitchenette in the room, the sea views, the proximity to local bars, cafes and restaurants yet it's not in the hustle and bustle of Funchal if you can call it that. It's really laid back the local area. The breakfast is good but some mornings I felt it took too long so I ate in my room and then went straight for the bus to Funchal."

"I wasn't keen on the price of the evening meal as it wasn't included and the a la cart restraurant wasn't for me as I've tried octopus before. The local area has a lot of German visitors and residents. I can speak a tiny bit of German but I need to improve. Some English people wouldn't like the language difference. I wish there were more English speaking guests to chat to though."

"Amazing location! Rocamar and Royal Orchid hotels are a complex of 2 hotels right above the ocean, which is why I choose this place. Upon my arrival on March 29th 2024 for a one week stay in Canico I was upgraded from my double room with sea view and balcony to a 40m2 studio in the Royal Orchid which was perfectly equipped, spotlessly clean (spacious bath room and room service every day) and very comfortable, with a big balcony overlooking the ocean and the waves putting me to sleep. Breakfast until 10:30 was very good with a lot of choice. I loved the 2 outdoor seawater pools for swimmming. Nice spa with indoor pool and small sauna, and a fitness room. An absolut highlight were my two 1hour massage treatments by Sofia at the Spa, she is truly amazing! They were by far the best treatments I ever had in a hotel spa! Sofia, thank you again!!"
