This design pensione is a former fortress and lies by the Baltic Coast, just outside the town of Fårösund and 2 km from the ferry terminal to Fårö island. It offers fine dining, free Wi-Fi and private parking. Some of the guest rooms are housed in 19th-century vaults, while others are found in the modern wing. All rooms have carefully selected furniture and products. Other facilities at Fårösund Fortress include a sauna, and an indoor swimming pool. The restaurant is open all year around.

"The creativity of redeveloping an old "Cold War/2nd World War" network of Bunkers into a Boutique Hotel was awe-inspiring. Anders looked after us v.well with lovely accomodation/shower, toiletries, breakfasts and many nooks and crannies to chill and relax. Okay, so the residence isnt near any shops, but that's not why you would stay there. You'd stay because of the comfort and solitude. It's also only 10 mins drive from the Ferry to Fårö, which is in itself an amazing self-contained community."
"It would be nice to have some curtains to accompany the blinds for extra privacy! The blinds were good, but if anyone was walking past and decided to look in then they could!!"
"Amazing 'modern' building with a history dating back to the Crimean War - fascinating. We had fun playing petanque and pool, and enjoyed walking in the nature reserve next door. Small spa area with a small pool and nice sauna. Nice breakfast, including making your own waffles! Lovely places to swim nearby, including the coast near Ar and the Blue Lagoon."
"Restaurant does not serve dinner in the low season (from mid-August onwards), which we'd been unaware of... and despite the notice in our room inviting us to book a table for dinner with a QR code to the menu :-/"
"A unique experience to stay in an old fortress. A boutique hotel with on site restaurant, boule court, pool table and swimming pool + sauna. Rooms were air conditioned. Staff was super friendly. A great stay and can really recommend to others."
